What we account for in Portugal
European Portuguese is not Brazilian. The differences in vocabulary and spelling are enough for a local audience to notice: text translated "into Portuguese in general" reads as foreign. For the site it is also a markup question - the version is declared as pt-PT, otherwise search engines may serve it to the wrong audience.
Accessibility is a requirement now, not a nice-to-have. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to online stores and services for consumers in the EU. The standard is WCAG 2.1 AA: keyboard navigation, sufficient contrast, labelled form fields, correct headings. We build this into the markup from the beginning - bringing a finished site into line costs noticeably more.
